PJ Clarke's

PJ Clarke's (55th St. and 3rd Ave.) is a New York institution, famous for its hamburgers. Hamburgers are a great food for celiacs to eat, as long as they are not made with any bread crumbs or other gluten-y filler in the burger. And guess what? PJ's aren't! I was there last night and enjoyed a lovely burger patty on top of a garden salad. Followed by some nice cinnamon ice cream.

the fries are pretty good, too, and totally safe for celiacs!

Actually, they may or may not be-- it depends on whether they fry them in the same vat as those onion rings. (We didn't ask!)

PJ Clarke's is a NYC institution! I love the old time bar atmosphere. I always get the half chicken with mashed potatoes whenever I eat there. I think it comes with gravy or another garnish, so just ask that they leave it off. The mashed potatoes are real and they do not add flour. I have never once gotten sick after eating there.
